• Test for excessive throttle shaft play by moving the shaft back & forth. Any more than 1/32" and your carburetor should be re-bushed. This should be left to a professional. We have a couple of resources for this. Too much free play will create a vacuum leak along with a rough idle.
  • Use a float spring on the float. This will take the bounce out of the float on rough roads.
  • The FL21 Nitrophyl float should weigh 9.5 grams.
  • When converting from a hot air choke to an electric choke, block off the hot air tube air intake.
  • Cleaning:
    • Soak the carburetor in Simple Green (Aviation series if you can find it) or Berryman’s Chem Dip. Follow manufacturer specs.
    • Rinse well with water
    • Blow air through passageways and tubes
    • Use a nylon brush to clean small orifices and passageway
