Carter YF and YFA carburetors all came with an ID tag under one of the bowl screws. They are also stamped in one of two places. Either on the lower edge of the bowl, or on a fin that runs vertical up the side of the carb. The number will be three or four digits followed by an ‘s’ (xxxS, xxxxS).

When the tag is gone and the number has been ground off which sometimes happens on remans, you have to take the carburetor apart and compare the internal pieces to properly identify the rebuild kit. Look at the gaskets carefully and compare the accelerator pump dimensions.
