If you notice a hesitation or bog when hitting the throttle, it may be caused by:

• accelerator pump adjusted incorrectly
• venturi cluster: dirty/blocked passages, loose screws, incorrect cluster, gasket not lying flat
• bad pump plunger
• pump inlet check ball leaking or misshaped
• problem outside of the carb such as the ignition, distributor advance, etc
